In compliance with the standards and accessibility of the byGalicia web site, which is published by the Regional Government of Galicia Industry and Innovation Council, all web content presentation and functionality are intended to be independent of the hardware and browsers used for access, coded using open and free technical standards and accessible to browsers adapted for individuals with disabilities or with sensory, motor or learning limitations.
The content is in an open, standard format developed and recommended by the W3C, of the Web Consortium.
The elements that make up the content (images, text, structures, links) are written in accordance with priority level AA Accessibility Guidelines of the W3C.
The use of the most recent browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Netscape Navigator, Opera, Konqueror, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc. is recommended.
The European Union in the resolution of the Council of March 25, 2002 encourages the member States to be aware of the need for digital content to be accessible and, following this recommendation, decree 34/2002 of 11 July for information society services and e-commerce states that public Administration shall adopt the measures necessary to make the information available on their Internet web pages to disabled individuals and older people in accordance to the accessibility criteria for generally available content before December 31, 2005.
With this objective in mind, the design of the byGalicia web site has been created taking into account the accessibility recommendations for the first and second level of priority of the WAI guidelines (Web Accessibility Initiative) of the W3C.
